Under the slogan “Cooperatives for Sustainable Development”, the more than one billion cooperatives in the world will celebrate this year their International Day on July 1, an event that has united the cooperative movement for a century.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coinciding with this day, an international conference is organized in San Sebastian to discuss the relationship between the cooperative movement and each of the SDGs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, July 1, the cooperative movement celebrates International Cooperative Day 2023<\/strong>. United by the slogan ‘Cooperatives for Sustainable Development’<\/strong>, it aims to show how the cooperative way of working, inspired by cooperative values and principles, where they have in their DNA the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year is also a key year for the United Nations 2030 Agenda<\/strong>. In September, the UN will host a summit where it will conduct a review of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provide high-level political guidance on transformative actions to accelerate their achievement. This is therefore a key moment to demonstrate the contribution of cooperatives to the achievement of the SDGs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The president of the International Cooperative Alliance, Ariel Guarco, \n encourages in this video<\/a>\n<\/strong> all cooperatives to show the world our identity, “because economic growth and prosperity can and must go hand in hand with decent work, the reduction of inequalities and peace”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As every year, cooperatives can join the International Day of Cooperatives to show our pride in belonging to the cooperative movement and celebrate how cooperatives build a better world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Day of Cooperatives: natural engines of collaboration and prosperity for all, promoting economic, social and environmental sustainability in the different regions of Spain and its economic sectors. Cooperativism is a business formula that, in Spain alone, is made up of more than one million people and creates more than 119,000 decent jobs in rural areas.
